  Animals certainly can have fierce territory battles, not only amongst themselves but also with other species! Lions, hippos and wolves for instance are all fiercely territorial and will fight to keep it!

  Not in the same often pointless way that humans seem to, they fight over real problems and it is usually a life or death and small groups who only kill the animals they have to in order to survive, they are rarely just doing it out of greed and power.
