The general reason seems to be that they eat grass if they are feeling unwell as grass is hard for them to digest and it makes them sick which them vomits up what was causing them to feel poorly (that is the general idea) however there is a school of thought that as omnivores they just like the taste/texture of grass. There may be other reasons that I have not found.

I know cats eat grass to help them vomit, but I don’t know if it’s the same case with dogs.

Yes it is when they are feeling ill they eat grass to be sick thus cleaning the insides
