      Barking has evolved in part because they live with humans and cannot express themselves with body language because we have bred it out of them so they express themselves through barking.

      Most scientific experiments place domestic dog barks into about six groups of communication: fear, anger, frustration, loneliness, pleasure and excitement. If a dog spontaneously barks, it will be for one of those reasons.

      Random point – A Basenji dog cannot bark though!
