• Question: when animal parents and there children are split up, if they saw each other again, would they recognise one another?

      Yes, although most animals tend to leave their home range so the chances of meeting their parents are slim! Animals however have evolved ways and means to recognise close relative, especially parents (scent is a main one).

      This is mainly to avoid inbreeding, but it means they would recognise them!

      I am not sure I completly agree because I do not think that all animals will recognise each other after a time, in fact the reason it is important to keep yonug puppies and domesticated animals away from their parents is because when they reach sexual marturity they will breed with each other.
      Themore intelligent species do, elephants and whales do for sure but the smaller animals may once they are older.
