  People had been finding fossils for hundreds of year without realising it (a dinosaur leg bone was found in the 17th century and wrongly thought to belong to a giant!),
  
  The first dinosaur to be correctly discovered, identified and scientifically desribed was Megalosaurus in 1824 by fossil enthusiat and clergyman William Buckland.
