Question: Is there such thing as a black panther or is it just a black leopard??

  SOmetimes it;s a black leopard, other times it can be a black jaguar or even an all black tiger (rare).
  
  Importantly, as you pointed out, its not a species in its own right but its a very easy mistake to make as people constantly talk about them as if they were!
