Question: Is obesity a problem in cats?

Yes, an epidemic actually! It’s (ironically) a huge problem in the USA but it is spreading across Europe also. In its most basic sense, it is simply due to cats being fed too much and not excerising enough.

However its a complicated issue with factors like human psychology, cats being kept indoors and cheap calorie rich food being readily available. It’s not a problem that will go away without a serious effort to educate owners and hold them accountable for their animals welfare.
