      Well it certainly doesn’t involve ghosts or anything of that sort! Freezing is a very commonly observed behaviour in animals. Usually, it is a fearful response to a specific stimuli – for a cat it could be a dog or other cat in the distance or a noise it has heard that it is unfamiliar with. Freezing also can happen before a ‘flight or fight’ response where an animal decides to run away or hold its ground. You may have noticed a cat randomly freezing up then running out of a room? This is why!
