It can vary with species but more importantly It depends on the age of the snake in many cases. Older snakes tend to shed their skin less often than younger snakes.

An older snake may shed as few as two times per year whereas a younger snake may shed it’s skin four times per year.

the average lifespan of a snake is 10 -12 years (roughly) so if they shed their skin 4 times a year (on average) then it is between 40 – 48 times over a lifetime, this is a very rough estimate though!
