Question: How have you improved the welfare of cats?

That’s a question that has made me reflect!

Honestly, as my PhD is only 6 months in and I am still only beginning much of my data collection, I don’t think I have been able to make an impact like that yet.

However, I think by presenting at conferences and engaging with owners, charities and the makers of the electronic fences I have helped to begin to spread awareness about many of the issues associated with wanderin cats. So I think that has been positive, however until my research begins to be published and shown around to relevant researchers and stakeholders I can’t say cats as a whole are better off welfare wise in the UK than they were 6 months ago!
