I started off in University certain I wanted to do forensics – anatomy, dead bodies, physiology, blood splatter etc – very CSI stuff. Very quickly I learned my talents lay elsewhere in Zoology, so I focussed on that instead.

I knew I wanted to do science when my guidance counsellor made me take one of those career tests and said I should do Science or Drama… and I figured I’d find science more rewarding ultimately!

I did not want to be a scientist when I first started out working, but I always wanted to find ways to help them and improve their care and welfare, the only way to prove what an animal needs in a scientific way is to become a scientist and think like one, so I guess it crept up on me over the years and now I have become one and I like it alot 🙂

I wanted to know the “why” and “reasons” of everything. I wanted to know what my cat was thinking of me…I haven’t figured that out yet but I am pretty sure he mostly just wants food.
