• Question: How did whorl sharks eat due to their many teeth?

      If a shark did not eat well it would not survive, those which have teeth will have to have the most efficient set for eating the diet which best suits their needs

      They were a weird animal that’s for sure! As there has yet to be an actual skull found, exactly how it captured or fed on its prey is the subject of a great deal of speculation, there are some prevailing theories however! One interesting one was that they ate ammonites (google them, very big shells) and that the teeth allowed them to grind up the shell to get the animal inside – obviously when talking about behavioural ecology of a long extinct species with an incomplete skeleton, there’s a bit of speculation invovled!
