• Question: How come when the queen bee dies the rest of the colony dies?

      That’s not necessarily true! What’s important about a queen bee is that without her the colony can’t reproduce! But her dying doesn’t automatically result in the colony all dying off.

      When a queen dies, the workers begin feeding larvae royal jelly in order to make a new queen – they usually have around a week to do this, if they are unsuccessful, then they will likely die off and the colony will fail.
