They have very thick loose skin so the snake has difficulty penetrating it

Actually it’s more down to their immunity – they have developed a resistance to snake venom owing to the fact that they actually prey on snakes!

A honey badger can get bitten several times while hunting and killing a snake, which is a potential large meal for them and one for which there will be little competition from other species.

The worst that happens to the badger is that they fall into a deep sleep for a few hours (mini coma) as they process the venom – but it’s pretty amazing considering they hunt and eat the puff adder one of the most venomous snakes on earth causring more fatalities than any other snake of its kind!!
