Bears have killed humans in the past, but it is a very rare event. So they can attack and it can be fatal.
But do bears prey on humans for food? No – if they did there’d be more evidence than the scattered data on bear attack we currently have.
Truly man-eating bears are incredibly uncommon but are known to occur when the animals are diseased or natural prey is scarce, often leading bears to attack and eat anything they are able to kill – I think there are only one or two documented cases of this actually ever happening though!

do you know anyone who’s been attacked by a bear

No – I know someone who witnessed a bear escape its enclosure in CHina but it didn’t attack anyone. I’ve seen plenty of bear on bear violence though!

the only thing bears would do is fight with other bears because that is what some animals do they would fight with their own kind
