It depends on the species, some roam and may not return to the same places whereas others may stay put, animals will move if they need to find food, but if food is plentiful and they have no fear from predators they can stay in the same burrow, nest or area. They do often return to the same nest or area if they are regular migrating animals

Males can have wide territories but if they lose a fight with another male then they have to leave the territory. Young males are often chased off by older males and have to make their own way in the world but sometimes will shadow their group.
