• Question: Can sea cucumbers see?

      Most sea cucumber species don’t have any distinct sensory organs, yet alone eyes so they don’t ‘see’ like you and I would.

      They do however have clusters of nerves around their bodies to sense the environment and many species have ‘statocysts’ which help them detect balance.

      One or two species have ‘eye-spots’ which allow them to sense light but it’s not really vision!
