• Question: Can cats hear us speak better when we do weird baby voices to them, or speaking normally?

      Marvellous question 🙂

I was always wondering this myself – Many of my colleagues always speak to cats in these weird overly cute baby voices and after an exhaustive search for evidence, I could find nothing published to say if it was a benfefit or not. Which was good, because as a deep voiced awkward man, I don’t like speaking in weird baby voices!

A fellow researcher is trying to look into this very question, and has obsevred cats to respond to music with higher pitched female tones more than regular voices – not exactly conclusive but speaking like this to cats is extremely common practice with owners and breeders (and researchers!) nonetheless!
