      Another myth! Good golly, we’re getting through these!

      It’s something pet owners have claimed for years but never been able to provide that crucial thing called evidence! I believe it stems from the fact that dog saliva is bacteriacidal, meaning it kills bacteria (see dogs licking wounds question). But the bacteria in a dogs mouth, which may be harmless to the dogs themselves can often cause sickness in humans – so it’s not cleaner exactly!

      This myth seems to have stemmed from dogs licking their own because their tongue gets rid of dead tissue… some people have suggested it may be safer to let a dog kiss your face than another human 🙂 but dog owners generally think their pet has special powers and I am not sure that is true, although mine does have special powers 😉
