Many do! Fish that are near the area where lightning strikes will get fried unfortunately and despite what some people think, salt water can conduct electricity although it won’t hold the charge long!

After impact the elecricity disperses and ‘fades away’ almost so animals further awat won;t be harmed. But due to the frequency of lightning strikes it’s safe to assume they do have an impact in fish numbers – luckily they like to reproduce!

When water is struck, the power is transferred through millions of gallons of water to the ground and very limited amounts in comparison would affect fish.

The fish may still feel a shock at a certain distance. It most likely would not cause any harm. The shock is not as strong as if the fish were in the air or near the surface and the lightning struck them
