This is a massive heated topic of debate – personally, I think in the extreme cases that euthanasia clinics cater for, a person should have the right to end their life should they and they alone choose.

This is my opinion however and I can understand that this is a subject which people feel very differently and passionately about, The presence of religion makes this an even more difficult discussion!

I agree with Kevin on this people should have the right to choose, but of course there is the worry that elderly people may be pressured into it and the laws are there to protect the vulnerable people, however those suffering with progressive illness like Motor Neurone Disease should have the right to choose when to die. I would not want to suffer a long and painful death but it is very sensitive subject and not one everyone agrees with because it there is so many ethical concerns around it. Some people do choose not to be resuscitated if they are in hospital and close to death and in a way that is them having a chose but it is only if they are very close to death anyway. It is a really hard subject because while we may want the right to die our families may be very upset by it.
