Amongst other animals – not really, although it’s fair to assume animals in a group can spot who the alpha male or say, the matriarch is.

We humans have made celebrities out of many animals, its part of our relationship with them! Lassie obviously springs to mind as do the countless animals used regularly in tv and film (the dog from Frasier, Eddie is anohter!)

Sometimes animals unwittingly become celebrities because of their novelty, Dolly the Sheep – the first cloned animal is one and of coourse we always have a fondess for oddities like Mike the headless chicken and many of the two headed individuals we discussed on here yesterday!

No I think humans are the only species silly enough to give celebrity status to individuals, it is partly because we are a bit voyeuristic, nosey, whereas animals are more interested in how to survive.
